NYC STUDENT FATALLY STABBED HOURS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

He was headed to Nassau Community College in Garden City, Long Island, in the fall, according to his Facebook page, which portrayed him as a fun-loving but hardworking sports fan. Friends and family posted how proud they were that he was planning to go to college.

The family arrived at the parking lot in the Bronx at about 9 a.m. Tuesday and walked over to the campus of Lehman College, where graduation was being held for students from Harry S. Truman High School. Following the ceremony, the family picked up their car and headed to a celebratory meal on City Island, a fishing hamlet on the northeastern tip of the Bronx.

On the way, the father noticed something was missing from the vehicle, turned the car around and headed back to the parking lot, Browne said.

When he arrived, he started arguing with two lot attendants, and hitting one with a shovel, police said. When Isayah Muller came out to help his dad, he was stabbed in the chest, police said.

The father and son raced back to the family car, where his mother and girlfriend were waiting and drove him to a clinic. The teen was later taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m., Browne said.

The father, Andre Muller, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault, and was awaiting arraignment in the Bronx. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.

Authorities questioned the two parking attendants as the investigation continued. It wasn't clear if they would face charges.

John-James Shepherd, Isayah Muller's high school football coach, said the teen "really personified the word charismatic."

"He would walk into a room and light it up. It's a cliche, but it's true in this case," Shepherd said.

Shepherd, who started coaching in 1999, said Muller was the best running back he'd ever seen at the high school level. Muller was headed for Nassau County Community College because his grades were not especially high, but the coach said he was sure Muller would have ended up in college's Division I — a possibly the NFL — eventually.

Muller rushed for 285 yards during the high school championship game in November, winning 23-20 over the top-seeded Beach Channel. Quarterback Xavier Hamilton said Muller was the team's go-to guy.

"To him, there's no such thing as pressure," Hamilton told ESPN's high school report. "You put the ball his hands and it's like he's in a zone. You look in his eyes and there's no reflection. He just gets the ball and does what he has to do."

Muller ran the last five plays of the November game. According to ESPN, "He not only carried the ball, but also his entire team."

"I really wasn't tired," Muller told ESPN. "This is my last game of my high school career. I didn't want to take one step off that field. I'm still not tired. I could play the whole game all over again."

I DONT BLAME THE KID BUT HIS FATHER HANDLED THIS ALLLLLLLLLL WRONG!!! ALLL WRONG, AND WHAT WAS STOLEN WAS NOT WORTH HIS KIDD BEING KILLED AND HIM GOING TO JAIL. DAMN DAMN DAMN WTH! A Moment of Silence in Obersvation of Crow's Accomplishments

Crows have spawned generations and have caught people's attention with their intelligence and confidence.  never accepting their assigned place in society as just birds, always sticking together, valuing community upholding their culture even when credit was due and not given.  I would like to take a moment of silence to acknowledge the courageous, upbeat, persistent spirit of crows may we all be like crows *heads bowed*

*peeks during moment of silence* if only black people could be more like crows

*end moment of silence*  you know crows and black people have a lot in common...according to Walt Disney they sound the same and wear similar clothing -__-

like black people Crows have been portrayed negatively in the media e.g. Hitchcock's The Birds

Crows have a negative reputation based almost solely on their color = usually black

like black people Crows have been feared for their intelligence as opposed to being revered or honored for it.

like blacks crows have trouble with the law especially when they congregate in large number...in florida for example it is illegal to own over a certain amount of crows because they can be trained to attack.

In general when crows start appearing in larger than tolerable numbers *the previous sentence is code for that also applies to blacks and that number would be about 5 maximum*  - authorities are usually notified and measures are taken to ride the area or crows.

Crows are considered a sign of bad luck, this is total racism, v_v

lastly a meditation:

If doves were half as smart as crows they would be considered God's theywould be praised talked about, they would probably bump the eagle out of line as people's favorite bird and people wold go on and on and on about how smart and amazing they are.  this of course is because people would praise the white animal withno problem because of the implications and untones and extensions of that practice favor whites who for some reason are very popular these days..... however no one ever mentions crows intelligence and abilities.... because they are black, ppl frequently comment on how black they are with disgust  why is that... when did black become so disgusting???  Ancient Nilotic people worshipped Crows and they were seen as good luck as a sign of god watching over you or stopping by in the form of a bird to pay a visit and provide protection,, how did that get twisted into being black and scary ???? leave to u know who to turn the truth upside down -__-

neways namaste :)

More about Crows

Of course they have a language. Most people have too much background noise in their area to actually hear it. Even vultures have a language (though they are extremely quiet - you can only hear them when they are very close and there's no noise or wind at all...it sounds a lot like hissing). Crows have a very wide dialect, and many distinctive calls. Pretty bright, for birds.

So how do these birds exibit such complex behavior, including tool use, language, etc. with such a small brain? Methinks the brain is not the only source of intelligence.

Crows are Very smart birds. They absolutely do remember people and things. I used to have a golden retriever who barked at some crows in the back yard. After that whether she was in the back, or I walked her in the street they continued to follow and caw over her head. Crows not only recognize their parents, but their siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

I used to walk another dog at a very large park "Mile Square, which wound around and had huge trees, streams etc, A lot of people walked their dogs. When one would start up one side of the park, one group would start cawing a warning, and then it would continue around the park. One day as I was starting I called up in a quiet voice, "it's okay, it's okay." I did that for a week and after that we could walk all the way around without a single peep from a crow.

I now have 2 crows that come out in the morning, sit on my roof, and caw as soon as I put my bedroom shades up. I go out, and toss small pieces of torn up bread around, several others join them, and they don't bother with me the rest of the day even though they're all around the neighborhood.

You should see the video of the crow that adopted an abandoned kitten. It's delightful. This tiny kitten was abandoned by its mother, and the crow started feeding it, bugs, worms, etc. and they spent their day with the crow following the kitten around. After a few days a couple on a farm took the kitten in, and fed it, but each morning the crow would come out and caw at the door, the cat would come out, and they literally played all day, one chasing the other and back and forth, and then napped together. It was amazing. The animal kingdom is more wondrous than we can even imagine.

Good point about intelligence. There is some interesting research out that we have a 2nd 'brain' in our gut. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=gut-second-brain Back to crows they have been studied to be as smart as the gray parrot (see the novel, Crow Planet). Imagine in your back yard, one of the intelligent birds in the world. They live in close knit family groups and take care of their injured peers. Listen to them = there is much more to the communication than their caw. Their chortle to each other is very sweet.

Reply#7 - Tue Jun 28, 2011 10:15 PM EDT

If you want to learn the language of another species, you have to take the time to listen and observe what it does, what the sounds signify. Dolphins have a warning note that means "THREAT!". A couple of marine biologists rigged up a keyboard that they could play underwater to mimic the dolphin whistles and clicks. When that note was sounded, the dolphins fled quickly. A biologist studying elephant communication can now interpret the various snorts, rumbles and burblings that elephants make. Even bees have a language.

And plants communicate with each other, too, by chemistry.

'"The more we messed with them, the more we thought they were really paying attention to us," Marzluff told LiveScience,' isn't a very scientific statement. And just how are the crows communicating to others not previously familiar with the particular offending human who they should be directing their ire to?

They are an amazingly intelligent bird, yet farmers continue to think the 'scarecrow' they put up has any effect whatsoever in keeping their crops safe.

"Crows have been known to change their entire migration pattern to avoid farms where even a single crow has been killed in the past. Generations upon generations later, they still remember specific houses where one measly bird has died. Sure, they're only avoiding those houses for now -- those houses that they remember, those houses that they know have taken one of their own -- but there's just something deeply unsettling about the possibility that there are millions of crows out there right now that know your address."

S4WDu5T,

That's fascinating. Then it seems that if farmers wanted to keep crows away rather than the scarecrow, they should shoot a couple....I'm not suggesting that however.

I've seen doves/pigeons do the same as crows around here. My husband and I along with our two dogs always get scolded when we go outside. It all started after a fledgling fell out of the nest and our puppy killed it It went on for over 3 and half years till one day one of them ended up in our pool and couldn't get out. I rescued it and since then the scolding has stopped. Birds are far smarter than humans want to realize.

Corvids are highly intelligent creatures. I love to watch them, talk to them. When I go out to my car, there's a raven that sits on a neighbor's roof and caws at me until I talk to it.

On my farm my brother shot at crows whenever he saw them.  The entire flock would stay just out of his sight or range.  If one strayed it was hustled back.  I refused to believe until now that it was anything but coincidence.  I wish I could avoid him as well as they do.

If I'm attacked by crows on the way to work, on the second day, I'm not bringing an umbrella, I'm bringing a tennis racket. I have no desire to harm animals, but if I'm being attacked by them, then I'm going to defend myself. If they are smart enough to remember faces, then they are also smart enough to know that they can get away with bullying something that doesn't defend itself, and if they are smart enough, they'll soon learn that they shouldn't bully me (or at least people with tennis rackets).

I once knew a naturalist who claimed that he had witnessed crows conductiong a court type trial of an offending member of the flock. The accused crow was on ground in center and verious members of the flock would fly down and do all sorts of squawking around him. Finally at some point the entire flock took off after the offending bird and plucked his tail feathers out.

Crows for Hire

You know, the opposite is true. I had issues with coyotes until I started getting crows on my property from a large oak that died. The crows chased a coyote away. When I saw them do that I threw a loaf of week old bread outside. After that, they became zealous, chasing cats, dogs, and even deer from the yard.

My garden is flourishing. I can even have chickens now (despite the crows reputation for eating chicks i've never had a problem.) I love my crows!

The Truth about Religion

ALL PRAISE JESUS!
This is a TRUE miracle and I witnessed it.
Today my wife and I went down to see the parade in New York. We kept hearing that Jesus was there, but just laughed it off.
But on the corner at 3rd Avenue there was a man there talking with a group of people. He was wearing one of those Dr. Seuss hats and a bow tie.
He didn't look like Jesus, who as everybody knows is a white man with a beard. This guy looked more like, I dunno, he looked more liked a Jew.
People were handing him all kinds of bottled water, like Arrowhead, Deja Vu, Ozark and even bottles of Trump Water.
Each bottle that has handed to him was returned as a bottle of WINE. Just like it says in the bible. That's when we knew it was the real Jesus.
So we asked him, "Jesus, what can you tell us about what is happening?"
Jesus said unto us, "You see dad really hates two things: dumbazzes and jerks. Like when you move and your new neighbor is a real jerk. Can you imagine what it would be like in heaven to have a bunch of stupid jerks hanging around? Heaven is for eternity, man. It wouldn't be so cool here if there were stupid people and jerks hanging around."
Jesus continued, "So dad came up with this plan to create Earth and test souls here. Everybody in heaven is cool and dad doesn't want to have to put up with fools. So he had people make up some stories that were just so silly only a fool would believe them. Some people joined these cults and dad uses this to filter out the people who are stupid and they don't get into heaven. That's what makes it so great."
So I asked, "But what about all this stuff about wee-wee's and ya-ya's – and bungholes? What about the bungholes Jesus?"
Jesus looked me in the eye and said "Man, in heaven there are no wee-wees, ya-ya's and no bungholes. Nobody poops because there is no food. There is no starvation in heaven man, don't you see? There are no bodies in heaven, man. We're all like Casper. Casper don't have no bunghole man. Casper doesn't have a bunghole."
And with that Jesus blew my mind.

Man building full-scale Noah's ark

How you know youhave wayyyyy too much time on your hands:

An hour outside of Amsterdam in Dordrecht, Netherlands, a ship is under construction. But this ain't your typical sailboat, bub. Johan Huibers is building a full-scale replica of Noah's ark.
Yes, that Noah's ark. And Johan, an expert builder, isn't skimping on the details. The ship, which he's been constructing for the past three years, is built to biblical specs. Johan culled information on the ark's size and shape directly from the good book. In the end, the ship is four stories high and the length of a football field. And yes, it's seaworthy.
The result is an incredibly impressive ship, especially considering it was realized simply by a man with a dream--or, perhaps, a nightmare. According to an interview with NBC's "The Today Show," Johan dreamt that Holland suffered a great flood. The next morning, he woke up determined to start preparing for that worst-case scenario.
The ship, which is not to be confused with the theme park in Kentucky that also honors Noah's ark, is generating a lot of interest in the search box. Over the past 24 hours, online lookups for "noah's ark photos" and "noah's ark real ship" have surged.
As for the craft proper, it's not complete yet, but it's getting close. The master plan is to sail the ship up the Thames in time for the London Olympics next year. Expect to see plenty of life-size plastic animals aboard (two of each type, of course).

The Not So Great Migration

So apparently Black Americans are beating a trail back to the South and fleeing North East cities particularly New York.  This story made the front page of the NY Times yesterday and I was just a little agitated by it.  I am also noticing a lot of white yuppies beginning to populate neighborhoods that used to have a social stigma of being you know *whispers* "ghettos"... places like Nostrand Ave Brooklyn, Brooklyn in general,  East New York,  HARLEM- although the gentrification of Harlem has been going on now for some time and is old news ...the Black Flight has fotten so bad that most areas of Harlem are pre-dominatley Tom and Sally zones.  Which is whatever except the one thing I dont understand is that when the Black people were living there the property value was crap now taht their are white tenants the property value is doubling and trippling on these otherwise extremely modest below average town homes with no property.  I mean these are attached brownstones its not like there are huge lots of land space for a gazeebo and golfing in teh back -__- nonetheless a harlem property on a Tom and Sally block can fetch upwards of 600K.  A part of me kinda wishes that the Blacks would hang in there long enough to benefit from this upswing.  instead of selling their properties and seeing them double retail value in the hands of their new white owners with almost no turn over time.

This is obviously not fair and a huge real estate ring of racism but que sera! Nevermind the properties middle class blacks are leaving behind,  more importantly Blacks leaving the city means that the city will change without the influence of their culture.  This means that an entire paradigm shift will be taking place soon in the NYC.  NYC's shared memories of block parties playing pick up games at local parks.  And the welcomeness towards people of color may not exist here anymore.  We have a large immigrant population here in NYC most of which is made up of the carribean, puerto rico, dominican republic.  There are a lot of these immigrants who are heading South, North and otherwise just out of the city in general in persuit of homes in the suburbs.  I dotn knock the idea of anyone owning a home however, it has always been the case that city property is more valuable. I mean I really can't blame someone for wanting to move to an area where they can have a six bedrooom home a front and back yard, a great! school system to raise their kids in a safe neighborood and experience nature everyday.  Really there's no argument there.  But something else is happening here something bigger than just the move out to the suurbs I guess it's the erasure of shared memory in the city??  the disipation of dreams that never came true.

I think I would have liked to see the people who came up north to pursue work and opportunity actually find that opportunity instead of wandering around up here not really fitting in and then eventually having to leave because none of what they expected came to pass.  For example the crappy public school system, the housing market being wack, violence and poor police protection.  It wasn't even taht long ago that the white flight took place that was like barely two generations ago and now we are on our way out already.

On the other hand I must say this is a step up for Afro-A;s cuz they are moving out to the burbs and their quality of life will soar by comparison to their city dwelling peers.  Their children will have better edcuation, better everything really.  thats pretty awesome tha it only took Blacks two generation time period to make such a big leap economically and culturally.  Remember it took the Jews, Italians and the Irish almost a hundred years to accomplish this.  They didnt start their spill over into the more expensive parts of Jersey until like four of five generations of city living.

Well however the cookie crumbles , even though they will do better in the suburbs (HOPEFULLY) I am sad to see them go.  Its like we are handing our city over to immigrants now well w.e. I hope they keep NYC poppin v_v toodles!
