Life in the DMV

Attending college in the District of Columbia has been awesome. I must
say some of the funniest and most memorable moments with DC's most
unforgettable residents/characters occur on the beloved metro.

Whether it be the bus or metro rail, I have enjoyed more than a few
great laughs during my commute.

Thank you DMV and Metro for your great service, opportunities and wacky
occupants and customers.

Culmination of Obamamania

Now that the inauguration is over, the excited crowds have dispersed,
most of the celebratory gala's and balls are over. I have headed back
to my hotel room at the Marriot Wardman Park in DC Club Level, and as I
look back on the past week of seminars, guest speakers and inspiring
panels I am feeling a little emotional.

Along with with so many other members of the Inaugural Scholar program,
I had planned for this week really this day for more than 6 months. I
have been looking forward to it and it has come to its completion. I
am so excited that Barack Obama is now our President.

I can't help but wonder what I will do with my self now that the
Obamamania has calmed down. I know that this week has been amazing and
I don't think that I will ever forget it. :) I know that I will enjoy
my last night here in the hotel watching clips of the first dance at
least 1000 times *lolz*

I guess its back to the real world ... mission accomplished. I still
can't help but look back on last night A.K.A the greatest day of my
life, camping in the cold with other enthusiastic students. Toughing
the cold in order to see Obama's swearing in. It's been live !!

Good night DC *blows a kiss*

Moments to Remember 2009 Inauguration

These pictures are just a few that were taken between midnight January
20th and 7am January 20th.

*He first is of the national mall all empty and vacant at midnight
before everyone got there.

*The second is of buses transporting people to the national mall

*The third is of fellow college campers freezing

*The fourth is of fellow college campers trying not to freeze by using
stolen boxes from a nearby dumpster for shelter lolz

Record Crowds in DC

The crowding earlier today was like none other. I have never seen so
many people in one spot. It was absolutely amazing. I have heard that
it's the largest non military crowd ... I dunno but it was very exciting
to be one of the first few in the crowd. Yes that's right Empress
Leiomi camped outside in the freezing cold all night to the swearing in
of President Obama. :)

There were people and vendors everywhere. The buses and metro kept the
crowds coming. Many of them came great distances and were so hyped they
ran onto the national mall chanting and singing. This was a once in a
lifetime experience. I now have something to tell my grandchildren ^_^

Obama, President of the United States

Whooooooo! I loved the benediction!! This was an amazing experience
:). It was worth all the wait in the cold from 12am this
morning...juust to be in the front of the entire crowd at the National
Mall. Sooo AWESOMEEEE!!

Wow Barack Obama delivered an incredible speech. President Barack
Obama's speech included several themes all of which are important to the
United States.

Obama's oath was just awesome to witness. - am truly speechless and
satisfiied^_^

> _> uhmm since I'm in the front of the crowd this means I will be one of
> the last to exit <_< so uh >_> how am I supposed to get home?? ..cuz I
> just know not everybody here is about to try to take the metro>_>..and
> uhm I haven't walked for at least 6 hours...how would one know if one
> had frost bite???

Until next time...CONGRATULATIONS PRESIDENT BARACKK OBAMA!!!!!!!!!

College Campers

I am here with many Inaugural scholars camping in front of the capitol
building in Washington DC. Campers began to arrive as early as 12 am
in hopes of getting a great spot to witness Barack Obamas inauguration.

To with stand the freezing temps man students are building shelter out
of boxes from a nearby dumpster.

As I lay on the ground in the cold amongst my peer I realize it was all
worth it. :) This is history in the making. :)

Al Gore UPIC

Whooooooo Former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore spoke at
the University Presidential Inaugural Conference. Al Gore's
presentation was awesome..He talked about the potential that young
leaders have to make changes that the world needs.

Al Gore also talked about global warming and the environment....did you
know that the mountain region of the United States gets enough wind to
power the entire country?

Gore stressed our need to end our dependency on foreign oil and pushed
for the use of wind energy and other green projects.

GREAT JOB GORE ..YOU DA BOMB!!! Whooooooooo

Inaugural Bathroom Business

Soo... While I was on the mall Yesterday I couldn't help but notice a
few of the 5000 port-a-potties that are supposed to be stationed in
several places along the National Mall. This sounds cool except for the
fact that DC is expecting at least 4 million visitors at the
Mall >_> wow that's like too many ppl per porta pottie hmmmmm yeaa I
uh... >_> I am pretty sure that's not gonna be enough port-a-potties.

Wow well on that note ... Good luck to all those port-a-potty users
tommorow. My prayers and deepest condolences are with you v_v.

Caught in the Crossfire

Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala spoke about the current election and
republican short comings. They m,ade interesting points about our 2009
all Democrat government and how that could pose problems because if
every one belongs to the same party then who will there be to blame when
things go wrong??

They also made another great point and stressed the audience to have
realistic expectations of our new President. They gently reminded the
audience that the problems that the nation currently face were not
created overnight and that they also won't be solved overnight.

Both speakers did a great job and were very entertaining.

Go Tucker and Paul WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Press Panel

Sunday January 18th the conference had a great press panel That included
journalist from Ny times, and NBC.

The press panel was cool and brought up interesting ideas the journalist
had the stance that no media coverage can sway a situation too much in
any direction ...either it is or it isn't. ^_^ Interesting point of
view.

Kudos to the journalists on the panel :)

Presidential Inaugural Conference in DC. This exclusive conference is 4
days we r now in the second day. So far Luke Russert, Colin Powell and
an Impressive Press Panel have spoken at the conference.

This Morning at 8am Colin Powell spoke at the University of Maryland's
Cole Field house. Powell encouraged the audience to work hard, build
character, and to know your own limitations. He advised that the future
Sec. Of State manage relations at home in America and not to spend all
of their efforts in foreign affairs.

BTW did u know that Colin Powel went to the city college in NY???? Did u
even know that he was from NY??

Well good luck to all those scholars out there who are pursuing
alternatives to high school diplomas and a special BIG UP!!! To all

Barack Smart trip

The following takes place in dat DMV!!! Holla! :)

So I had the lovely occasion to wait in a ridiculously long line at
Metro Center with about 100 other people in the freezing cold to get a
limited edition Barack Smart Trip card. Lolz It was well worth the
wait. I bought two cuz u kno I'ma break. Lose. Accidentally teleport
one.

So yea the line was dumb long and all of a sudden this random lady tries
to jump the line. Her tactic was to tap a guy in front of me on the
shoulder and ask if he remembered holding her spot for -________-

While this was a creative was to avoid the wait this was no time for
games, and of course she got shut down..But this lady was persistent and
ended up skipping the line anyway. So then she gets to the window and
doesn't have enough money and starts begging for 2 dollars.

Who does that!! Smh

Over Heard on the 7

So over the Holidays I had the occassion to travel via the extremely packed 7 train. The cramped train made a stop and as usual the ridiculous .. cartoonish overcrowding did NOT discourage people on the platform from squeezing and shoving their way into the train. AFter being squeezed as close together as possible a random lady yells out " Is everybody on?"

AT this point there are at least 10 people outside the train that absolutley could not fit and they all responded in a chorus .."NOOOOOO!" it was def the funniest thing I have ever witnessed in the NYC subway system. Lmfaoooooo!!

Until next time TAKE THE NEXT TRAIN DAGGG!!! IT IS NOT THAT SERIOUS RELE PEOPLE!!

8 Avenue Local

Yayyyyyyy!!! The new E trains are here!!!
I actually took the new E shortly after new years and I must say the
ride is smoother there is no more sharp stops and people don't tip over
anymore. Also the subway trains appear more spacious. I was way more
amused than I should have been. LOlz The lighting in the new trains is
much brighter. The cars look cleaner *of course this is partially
because they r new* and the screens that list the train stops are very
helpful and surprisingly entertaining.

I like the new trains a lot!! They are so cool and much needed upgrade
from the rusty Tuna Cans that we had before. Good Job NYC MTA !
